It is as if the artist had penetrated the skin of modernist flatness, the omnivorous gallery wall and extracted it's guts: the spaces, gestures, forms and textures of painting. At the same time she beats her assemblages back to the wall by coating them in layers of paint and decorative imagery. It is the raw state of her materials, imagery and painting style that keep these works suspended between deep space and the floor.
